Each division has a team of teachers that has the autonomy to design their own customized and flexible curriculum based on their current class's needs and interests. Our teachers are enthusiastic and brimming with creative ideas. Since the teachers know each and every child so well, they are able to introduce truly unique and personal activities into the classroom on a regular basis which make our children feel especially safe, connected and understood.
This coming fall 2022-2023, we are pleased to announce a new caregiver and child program led by our 2s teachers. Little Cherries will be a play-based learning program for toddlers and their caregivers. This is a great introduction for future "cherries" to have fun and learn about our nurturing community. Children 18 months and up, along with their caregiver, are invited for a fun, interactive story time, process art, and music and movement class. This class will meet on Wednesdays from 10:00am-11:00am for 7-8 week sessions. This class is offered for up to 8 students, along with their caregiver.
This combination class is a transition class for your toddler. It meets on Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00am-11:30am, Sep - Nov and 9:00am-12:00pm, Dec - Jun. This class is recommended for children who are between 2 and 2½ years old in September. Children will attend with their parent or caregiver until they turn 2½ years old. Parents and children will be introduced to the play-based atmosphere of CHNS as they gain the security and independence needed for preschool. Parents will get to know each other and will see first-hand the benefits of being part of a cooperative nursery school. Once children are 2½ years old, they will attend the class independently. This class is offered for up to 10 students.
The 3s class is recommended for children who are between 2½ and 3 years old in September. It meets from 9:00am to 12:00pm. The class meets on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and is offered for up to 14 students.
The 4s class is recommended for children who are turning 4 years old during the school year. It meets from 9:00am until 12:00pm. Parents may opt for their children to attend the class either four days (Monday-Thursday) or five days per week. This class is offered for up to 16 students.
The 5s class is recommended for children who are turning 5 years old during the school year and it meets five days a week from 9:00am until 12:00 pm. This class is offered for up to 16 students.
We also offer extended day options!
Afternoon Enrichment is also available through out the school year on Monday through Thursday, 12:00pm-2:30pm, for children in the 3s, 4s and 5s classes. See our Afternoon Enrichment page for more details!
Our teachers take turns leading these mixed-age programs. Children really enjoy interacting with the teachers and children from other divisions and love the opportunity to play in each other's classrooms.
